Folks

I lived in an apartment for almost 2.5 years. The first two years when I extended my contract due to my job nature, I requested to my apartment management to give me one month rent as early termination fees and they agreed. But the current contract they put 3 months rent as early termination fees.
I informed the apartment management that due to change in my work location, I will have to leave the apartment in short time but will be able to pay 1 month's rent. They obviously refused.
what are the consequences if brake the lease and leave end of the current month? what are the options I have to settle this one?

M.

The consequences if you break the lease?

You have to pay what you owe per the contract.

Or, walk away and be given a bad rental history and sent to collections.

I think with my apartment the lease said that if you move out, you either have to pay rent for all the days the place stayed vacant while they waited for a new renter, or you could just pay 1.5 months worth of rent, and break the lease free and clear. I guess the former option was more of a gamble, but my complex was pretty popular, so that seemed to be the better option.

They will send it to a collection agency and it will impact your credit score. Unlikely they will actually sue you, but they could sue you. If you don't care about your rental history or credit score, no real consequences.

Your lease doesn't sound standard.
