Going to Dallas for the first time on a business trip and looking for suggestions on where I can go to grab a drink. I'm a big fan of whiskey so hopefully it'll be a place where they make good drinks. Looking to avoid any loud/obnoxious bars. I'll be on my own so hopefully a place where I can sit at the bar and just grab a few drinks. I've ready the Prohibition and Standard Pour are good places, but wondering what the scene is like on a thursday night?

If you are around the Crescent/Stadium area, Saint Ann's is an option. It's mainly business folk.

Downtown, if you go to Prohibition (replaced the uber-trendy Chesterfield), step 5 ft to the left and try upstairs at the OE Penguin or to the right and go to City Tavern instead. Both make good drinks and have outlasted most of the other places down there.
Both are good choices if you really want to just be alone and maybe learn some things about the area from friendly staff.
I'd also recommend Ravennas on the opposite side of the street from those 3. It's never loud and is frequented by locals. Their selection of whiskey isn't as large as the others but I'm sure you will find something you like.
