The Park Cities Y is at the end of the street where we are moving. My boys could walk there. They are 11 and almost 15. So that's great news. And I will definitely buy the pool passes.

Now I'm really looking forward to this move!
Not really sure about the church, maybe another person can chime in on that one.

For the 15 year old, they probably will get minimal use out of both the pool and YMCA. Most of their outside time will probably be influenced more by any school related extracurricular activities. Depending on their interest and friends they may be spending more time at DCC and such with friends.

The 11 year old will love the pool. You may also want to look into Summer Camps for the 11 year old if budget allows. I know when I was there both Camp Longhorn and Ozark were popular with the HP/UP crowd. Just ask around so they go during the right session.

There is a Unitarian church next door to the Y but I don't know anything about it. Apart from that one I think most of the nearby churches are pretty traditional. Our definitely is and the ones I know of from several friends are also very traditional. But there are a lot around...hopefully you will find someplace you are comfortable.

A lot of people from the Park Cities attend Watermark, which has an informal format, so that might be a good church option!

Also, Park Cities Baptist has an awesome contemporary service. Obviously it's Baptist, but tons of Park Cities people, and the contemporary worship definitely has more of a non-denominational feel.

Northwest Bible church might also be a good option!

Great post! There are plenty of single parents who live HP and are just as happy.

Watermark (near 635 & 75), Fellowship (Park & 75), and Northwest Bible (Northwest Hwy & Douglas) are the three most common nondenominational churches. HPUMC also has a contemporary service called Cornerstone that you might want to check out.
