In any case, Richardson may not be in hipsters' crosshairs because they've set their sites on downtown Plano where so many in-town Dallas eateries (like Lockhart's Smokehouse and DaLat) are opening new restaurants: Why Dallas Restaurants Are Streaming to Plano
I haven't been to downtown Plano at night in a few years but when I was last there, it didn't seem hipsterish to me. It was more like a slightly dressed-down, older, saggier version of Addison.

I know, right?? Why do SO many people have an either/or attitude? I am happy to try something truly good in ANY setting!

Methinks you don't know what is 'hipster'. That's okay, since it's not a real thing. What I'm reading in your comments is that you don't want 20-something/DINK culture in your neighborhood. That's fine. But that's not hipster.

^agree with Considering Coming Back with the exception that I didn't get a NIMBY vibe from the posts.
I'm very happy with the changes and find myself spending more time and money in my own area now than staying downtown for a few extra hours. I'm not part of a church or PTA so there's been a large void. Now if only I could convince the rest of my social network to go north of 635....

Plus there is a sweet little Japanese home cooking spot - Kinoko
They have a nice selection of onigiri, fresh made juices, etc.

I agree. Plano old down town had huge restoration, got new apartments, coutyard theater, trendy restaurants, DART, train museum, walkways, park, music and so much more. City government is determined to turn it into a cool hangout and residents/businesses are joining hands with them. To be honest, it has way more potential to attract hipsters.

It would be nice if Richardson can develop a nice downtown or something like Legacy Village.

It has one. We keep it a secret so it doesn't become like Legacy Village

Well that isn't so easy. The hipster areas in Los Angeles where I live are in areas that have always been loud and heavily trafficked. That said, they're no more or less loud than the San Fernando valley or any "main drag" in a town.

I also don't think this taco joint is particularly hipster. It seems to have a vibe like freebirds. Family friendly and cartoony. Hipster style seems, at least what I've seen and where I go, to be less disneyland and more stylistic. I can't really articulate it but the signs on the salsas is very unhipster.

Mohawk Bend | Commitment to Craft go there, it's in the heart of hipsterville. And also one of my favorite restaurants, I guess I'm a closet hipster? The thing is... They don't really venture to the burbs.

also, Richardson has always been a haven for a lot of punks (fans of the actual music) because of the vegan options for food.
