From DISD release:

The School for the Talented and Gifted and the School of Science and Engineering, both located at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, are ranked No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Both schools, perennially listed among the best in the nation, are ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in Texas.
In addition, the following Dallas ISD schools also staked claims to The Post’s list of most challenging schools:
• Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School – 20 (No. 6 in Texas)
• Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet – 70 (No. 22 in Texas)
• School for the Health Professions – 197 (No. 40 in Texas)
• W.T. White High School -406 (No. 54 in Texas)
• Hillcrest High School -514 (No. 65 in Texas)
• Woodrow Wilson High School - 1,143 (No. 115 in Texas)

...More than 1,900 schools nationwide are listed in the rankings. To determine the rankings, the newspaper takes the total number of advanced placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year and divides that figure by the number of seniors who graduated the previous year.

In RISD:

J.J. Pearce (45th in Texas)
Richardson (76th in Texas)
Berkner (112th in Texas)

Looks like Lake Highlands didn't even make the cut. Shame shame shame.

LOL...you do realize that if you post a list like that, other people are going to chime in about their particular district's results, right?

BTW, here's their methodology. Just trying to save my fellow Dallas forum posters a Google search and a few mouse clicks:

I listed the methodology and it's well-known to those who quibble here...

Your original post didn't contain the methodology which is why I posted it. After I posted a link to it, I saw your edit.

I'm not going to quibble about it; I don't have kids so I don't care. People who know about public schools around here know that Richardson is an excellent yet underrated district. If people don't want to move here because of what's on that list, it's no skin off my nose. Given how quickly houses fly off the market around here, there seem to be plenty of others willing to move here. Plus, we like that our old little inner-ring suburb is one of the best-kept secrets around.

It's just too bad that so many people are finding out about Afrah. It makes it really hard to find a parking spot. Good thing it's only a little over a mile away.

Surprised that Booker T didn't make the cut. Wasn't it on the list last year?

Of COURSE we are going to post our own districts!!! LOLOL (j/k)

59 Liberty Frisco TX
89 Wakeland Frisco
90 Centennial
104 Lone Star
107 Frisco High
108 Heritage

But Seriously, Kudos to McKinney (north and boyd) and Allen who made this ranking! I post this because I feel that these three districts get overshadowed by big sister plano west (who is of course on the list)..and its nice to know they are coming in their own.

Wakeland is getting a lot play here in frisco..climing the rankings and becoming a school to look at..from the talk of the town.

Are those rankings state or national? When you look at the list by state it only displays the school's rank in that state.
