My roof was hit by hail weeks ago, The mortgage company (in different state) requires licensed roofer to finish my roof. Where to find if the roofer is licensed?

Roofers and other General Contractors (GC's not plumbers, electricians, HVAC Contractors) have no licensing in Texas. However I would check with your local municipality to see if they require a permit for roof work and if they require roofers to register with them before performing any work in their municipality. Some municipalities do require contractors to register and do require permits for roofing.

How do you become a roofing contractor in Texas? You get a pickup truck, ladder and sign the side of the truck. Best bet is to check them out on BBB, Angie's List. Look for a local roofer with a good reputation. He will be around when the others are gone. We hired a roofer that has been around for 35 years in our town (Denton). We cleared the insurance inspection on Wednesday, had the new roof installed on Friday. Great job.

PM me and I will give you his name.
