All I know about Ennis is the drag strip. Its not a happening Dallas exurb by any means, but that's not always a bad thing.

It is on the way to Houston and with the 287 bypass, you no longer have to drive through the center of it. That whole stretch of Corsicana/Ennis/Waxahachie/Midlothian has always seemed very disconnected from greater DFW to me. I have family sprinkled around that region and they get enraged if anyone ever refers to them as being from DFW. They're not even too happy with "North Texas."

If you ever watched King of the Hill, it is very reminiscent of that region of North Texas and any outer exurb of DFW

Ennis is ok.. I second what everybody else said, my experience comes from formerly living in Corsicana. That area got boring after a while but Waxahacie seems to have enough for some entertainment, and Corsicsna has a new movie theater/entertainment complex that was pretty fun. Not too far from Dallas but far enough that nobody claims it..
