This morning one of the local radio stations mentioned this new tool. They did say that google will allow you to remove your address if you want. Our street is one that is not yet photographed. On the radio they said the photos were all shot recently in the last few weeks. I'd have to say they were probably done at all different days since some show schools w/ lots of cars in the parking lot and others are empty. I know the one for the neighborhoods right around us had to be a Wednesday since that is garbage p/u day and everyones was out. I know some were not during lunch hour as Chick-Fil-A's parking lot was pretty much empty (NOT the case during lunch, lol).

It is pretty cool but creepy.

Did you notice that when you pan down a street by clicking on the arrow on the street that cars begin to "pass" you on each side? LoL! 'Tis true!

I think it depends on the area about when the photos were shot...In my area I can see my girlfriends old car. That was over 2 months ago.

Yep, there is one shot of the our main office and one of the secretary's cars is out front but in another it is not. I'm guessing by the time the photographer got down the street she had left for lunch Think about how much time this had to take to get a pic of EVERY SINGLE STREET from EVERY SINGLE spot. Now I'm gonna start looking for people standing taking pictures on the street I have yet to find my car - not at the mall, not at Chick-Fil-A, can't pan in close enough to Target, lol.

I totally agree. I admit I had fun using it, but there seems to be NO privacy on any level anymore.

It sure was a pretty day when they were in my neighborhood - sunny, no clouds and the yards are green. It must have been a weekday since the cars that usually park in front are gone. I'm thinking it was late Aug/early Sept as it looks like we had already moved in and one of the trees in the front that was the first to loose it's leaves, was still green.

If you pan all the way down as if you are looking at the street, you can see the vehicle the picture was taken in, it looks like the mechanism was on top of the car. I'm sure people actually saw it going through the city.
They have a cameras mounted on a pole continuosly shooting as they drive every street. It started here early Spring.

The address you type in will locate the arrow the map, but that is not necessarily your exact house address. Drill down the map as far as you can to your street. Select the 'Street View' box in the top right (next to map/satellite/terrain). Then click on the road right beside where your house actually is -- ignore the little man on the map. THEN you will see you house. If you are on a corner, then click on the road at that side -- you will see that side.

These are 360-degree continuous shots and they have you covered -- literally. You can 'street view' around the town this way without ever typing in another address if you wish. Just drag the map and continue.

Please remember to come up for air once in a while...

Very cool! Reminds me of the times when DCAD had pictures of every property - but that feature was pulled because of some legal issues. Wonder how Google works around those problems.

My property is on Streetview - but the address is two houses off. Also, all that Google Streetview shows of my property are trees, trees, trees. The house is neatly hidden behind them - privacy preserved!

It wasn't just DCAD that had to pull pictures, it was ALL tax appraisals in Texas. Some people just don't want to be found and they have a good reason for it. For instance, in the phone book our address is at the Verizon switch. Fine by me as you never know what some idiot ex-employee will do. Of course I could just unlist our phone number. But since the tax appraisals had to pull pics I"m wondering how long it will take before they go after google????
