Does anyone know of any nice affordable studio or 1x1's in North DFW or NW DFW? No further west than Fort Worth and no further north than Denton? Extended stay hotels are fine as well. Thank you for any recommendations.

.
First it'd help if you would tell us what is affordable for you, as it varies a lot from one person to the next that asks here.

Is that $800/month or $1300/month or $1800/month? That is what we need to know.

The cheapest I could get at the sizes I mentioned and in the areas I mentioned without being in a drug or gang infested neighborhood.

That area you mentioned is massive. Do you mean near DFW Airport? Is there a specific southern or eastern boundary you had in mind? "No further west than Fort Worth and no further north than Denton" basically describes 90% of the metroplex. If you're working in Denton or Tarrant County, the Fort Worth forum might get you better answers. DFW is one metro area, but there is not a whole lot of overlap between the Dallas side and the Fort Worth side.

Also, do you have a car, or need public transportation? Are you looking for a place that will lease month-to-month, or would you prefer a one-year lease? Is comfort more preferable, or do you want the most value for your dollar, or the absolute lowest cost possible? Is location the key factor, or price regardless of location? Again, if you gave a more specific price range/ceiling and location, we could give you a good recommendation.

And no further east than north Irving, TX. Yes I have a car, and I would prefer not to have to go through tolls everyday. I would like a good value, but mostly would prefer a quiet low cost location while I go to school. I work not too far south of Denton, so no further north than Denton, no further west than north Fort Worth, and no further east than Irving, TX.

With those limitations, you're going to have better luck on the Fort Worth board.

If you're in school at UNT, I'd look at the apartments around the square in downtown Denton. I have no clue about the rental market in the Mid Cities and southern Denton county, sorry I can't help you there.
