Default Looking in the Dallas area

Hello,

We're looking in the areas of South Lake, Colleyville, Trophy Club, Grapevine, Keller, Flower Mound and Coppell. Good schools are a must. Excluding price, where would you live if you had to choose and why? What are some of the pros and cons of these areas. If there's other areas similiar, please throw those in too.

thanks

well, if you strictly want those cities, Coppell would probably be best. But if you're willing to bend a Bit, Carrollton, Northern Irving, Richardson, Plano, Hebron, and Lewishville have some really good schools.
Coppell is really popular among families right now, as is Plano. Parts of Irving, Plano, Carrollton, and Farmer's Branch are also taking off...
Out of those Coppell probably has the best schools.

Of your list above, Southlake and Coppell are the ones appreciating higher than the rest for a few reasons. The schools are really good in both. Southlake offers so much in terms of shopping, dining, entertainment, easy access to Fort Worth or Dallas. Coppell is smaller. Trophy Club is pretty nice too bu you have to go to Southlake for shopping or dining or anything else in fact. They have a couple of convenience stores...

Colleyville is a nice to live too. However, the communte to Dallas could be more difficult but easier to Fort Worth.

I would suggest Allen, TX as an area to look at. I have lived in this area for the last 8 years after relocating from Oklahoma. There are some really great areas to start and grow a family with highly rated Allen Public Schools. Moderator cut: advertising

Where is your job, and what price range are you looking for?

Flower Mound is very difficult to get in and out of due to lack of/overcrowded roads, the traffic there on weekends is horrible.

See Nsummer's take on Trophy Club. I agree...and one of the only ways in/out is a one-way highway frontage road!

I live in Grapevine and LOVE it!

Default Really depends on your budget.

If your budget is at least $400,000 I would select Southlake for sure. One of the 2 best school districts in the entire Metroplex. If your budget is between $285,000-400,000 I would pick Grapevine with Carroll ISD (Southlake). Colleyville is a good area also but avoid Tara Plantation because the schools are HEB (not as good as Grapevine/Colleyville. If your price point is under that I would pick Grapevine, then Keller. These areas are all really good and escalating a lot faster than Keller or Coppell but they are both pretty good areas too.

What you like to do, the environment you want also will play in here.

The budget is up to 400k. I telecommute, so driving in to the city is not a factor. I prefer a more suburban/country atmosphere as I'm not big on going to the city for much other than some special event.
