1. The Shops at Park Lane in Dallas. Like the Arboretum, there are very similar shopping places nearby (Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack etc). The vibe doesn't feel as "happening" though as the Arboretum does.
2. From what I can tell, it seems very similar.
3. Austin is more liberal and laid back, it feels like a cool town. Dallas is more metropolitan and fast paced, it feels like a big city. I work in Richardson, it is a suburb, there's really not much going on for young people. Seems like there's a lot of families and older generations.
4. If you are looking for something similar to Austin, you should check out Lower Greenville and I don't like Uptown because it's expensive and pretentious.

Unlike Austin, the highway system moves, you can get to Richardson from Dallas in 15-20 minutes easily in the worst traffic. Don't live in Richardson.
Exactly

Dallas is where mid to late 20's Austinites move to when they stop playing frisbee golf and take up real golf while they start to climb the corporate ladder.

Dallasites visit Austin for recreation and to blow off steam from our more professional lives, LOL.

You've already been given some great advice where to live so I won't repeat it. Dallas can be very enjoyable but I think you'll be in for a bit of a disappointment if you try to compare it to Austin and try to find the same thing here.

Perfect answer! The Lower Greenville, Junius Heights, Belmont are, in my opinion, the closest thing to Austin feel you will find up here. Love Hiking the Katy Trail and stopping by the Katy Trail Ice House. Makes me feel like I'm in Austin again!
