Hi Everyone,

I would appreciate your input in our upcoming home search. My wife recently started a new job in Southwest part of Carrollton (Luna rd/PGBT). I work from home and can live anywhere in the Metroplex. Below are our needs and areas that we are considering:

Must-haves:
- Good schools. We have two boys (4 yr and 1 yr). Elementary is especially more important.
- <30 min commute to work (Luna rd/PGBT). My wife leaves home around 6:45 AM and leaves work by 4 PM.
- A 2500 - 3000 Sq ft home under $350K (max 375K). We are looking ONLY for a pre-owned home and don't need a big yard.
- Quick Resalability

Nice to have:
- A master planned community with young families, parks and walking trails

Areas we are considering (in order of priority):
- Southwest part of Plano - great location! We currently live in Plano.
- I realize our budget would limit our options here. Any thoughts?
- How are the elementary schools in 75093?
- Far North Dallas zoned to PISD - ideal location!
- How are the elementary schools here?
- Flower Mound (Wellington and Southeast part of FM)- best alternative to Plano for schools.
- Castle Hills (older Southeastern part) - don't like the property taxes and expensive homes.
- Coppell/Valley Ranch with Coppell schools - hard to find a house and don't like the property taxes.

Does my prioritized list looks reasonable? Are there any other areas I should be considering?
Thanks a lot!

In most of Carrollton, you can find a house around 3000 sqft for well under $300,000 but the schools in Carrollton are not that great.

Thanks. We ruled out Carroltton because of the schools. How is 121 in the morning commuting west? Just trying to keep our options open to see if we lived near DNT and 121, would it make for a reasonable commute for my wife.

121 is pretty torn apart in that segment currently which causes some traffic both ways. Still beats DNT, 75, 35 and 635 thats for sure. My Vote is 75093 but good luck finding a house in your budget

Thanks, that's good to know. Right now she takes PGBT all the way through and flies. Sounds like 121 may not be quite like that but not too bad either.

There are some good elementary schools in Carrollton/FB school district. LaVillita Elementary and Las Colinas Elementary are well located for you and both great schools.

Yes, Las Colinas elementary is CFBISD and serves Hackberry Creek - nice community
LaVillita Elementary is CFBISD and serves the LaVilleta community and other new subdivisions around there.

Example For sale is 2508 Briarcrest, and 2200 Aristocrat in zip 75063 is Las Colinas Elementary (rated 9 in Great schools)

Thanks, I'll check them out. Do you think I could get a house in those sub-divisions in my price range?

both addresses I gave you in Hackberry are in your price range and are active listings

LaVillita sometimes has houses in your range, one right now is pending, just have to watch for them. They are newer homes. Hackberry's homes were generally built in the early 90's
