We went shopping this weekend and found Weirs to be affordable. We looked ar Ashley's ( not impressed) and the price point wasn't too much higher.

I second Costco. I have a Costco couch and an Ashley's couch. The Costco one is great. The Ashley's one was (and is still) crap after a year. And we had an awful experience with them.

Did the same thing this weekend. Have had a ashley's couch for a few years and unimpressed with it. Just bought a new set at Weirs last weekend for a good price for higher quality furniture. They also have a lot of good customization options

Like what?

I bought a couple of times in Ashley's and not impressed. Rooms to go is a bit better but I'm sure I'm missing better places.

We stopped by at Stacy Furniture and liked their quality of wood and design but it was hard to find any bedroom set below $5K (bed + dresser + mirror + 2 night-stands + console).

We have ordered a lot of furniture online from goodshomefurnishings in North Carolina. They carry dozens of brands from lower mid range to some more expensive. Their pricing is better than any place I've found in dallas, even after paying shipping. Sometimes they offer free shipping too. You have to know which pieces you want to order so it helps to shop around locally first. I'd love to support local stores...and I do if I'm buying vintage or something unique...but for national brands it's really hard to justify paying that much more. I saved $600 (30%) on my last order compared to prices I was quoted at weirs and two other stores locally...and that is even after paying shipping.

I checked Freed's on a weekend and they carry bed room sets which I liked, but they don't seem to negotiate above their standard discount they offer. Is it me not negotiating properly or Freed's don't negotiate?

I am selling a brand new Dining table that was bought from Anderson.

Reason we are selling it : we are in the process of converting the whole house into Restoration Hardware style, we love it!
If anyone is interested, PM me!

I would not buy either Ashley or Rooms To Go, both stores have poor quality furniture that are actually expensive. For cheaper but good quality furniture , you have to hit regularly the second floor at Weir's , their sale department is wonderful. We have bought many things there over the years. As somebody mentioned earlier , Costco is also a good source, and we we found better quality for a better price sofa sets at Stacy. By next year , Nebraska mega store should be open.
