I'm sorry, but if someone is belching over plain water, there's something going on. That's an unusual reaction and if it's only happening here I'd be somewhat concerned.

He didn't say the water caused him to belch, just that when he did, he tasted nasty, dirty water.

We can tell whether a place filters their water for ice or not. Through the flavored drink. The water in North Texas is gross and doesn't require medical intervention.

I am sure if you moved to the Lakewood area you would find the finest, clearest water available in all of the kingdom..............sorry I couldn't resist.
I agree the water here is a little on the 'funky side'. Even our dog gets filtered water.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Geez, I don't think it's THAT bad here! Some are worse than others, true. I like Arlington water over Grand Prairie. Whenever I go visit my brother in Denver I find their water disgusting. Maybe it's all in what you're used to. Having said all that, I prefer Ozarka spring water, myself.

I've lived here for 13+ years and still can't drink the tap water here! It tastes like pond water to me, and I guess I must like hard water better. I moved here from West Texas, and the water tasted "cleaner" there, though it might not have been.

There are times when I even can't take the smell of the water in my shower! Mostly late summer.

LOL.

Well I think I have a higher tolerance. I remember my uncle having well water and the sulfur (I was told that I don't know) was so bad not only did you always smell rotten eggs, but it STAINED CLOTHES. Now that's some crappy water.

MountainPharmD, I PROMISE you it IS specific to an area. Go to Bedford and taste their water, then try Arlington's, there is DEFINITELY a difference. I love water and all types. I usually drink bottled water (Dasani is my favorite) but I live in Arlington and I'll drink the tap water too. I don't remember who put up that list but again, check the list and it ranks different cities. I think part of it is in your head so since you had a bad experience in a couple of different cities you've made a blanket assumption that they ALL taste like pond water which is understandable. Remember though, the Metroplex is made up of a plethora of different cities and towns who all have their own water treatment plants and how they treat the water. Same goes in other cities like San Antonio. My dad went to a (middle?) school there named Terrell Wells and they called it "Terrible Smells" because the water had so much sulfur in it. Water treatment is region specific. The best water I've ever had though was out in the country. We used to live in Azle on the NW side of Fort Worth and had our own well which suprisingly did not taste all dirty and nasty. If there weren't so much pollution that's the way water would taste.

That's a very general statement. Where did you come from? Interestings I saw a test on the news pitting different area water depts vs some bottled. The only bottled that consistently came in as high as the local water was Fiji. That alone makes me wonder if you just a.) come from an area with much different tasting water that you're just used to(the water you came from might actually taste pretty bad) b.) You have a pipe problem in your home, or c.) could be a neighborhood or problem specific to your area.
