Do check with the rental company. In my personal experience, it is never easy to do zip cash with a rental. Sometimes they have a tag, but will charge a "convenience fee" per day that could easily exceed all of your tolls. Now, in the opposite case (if you tell the rental company not to enable it), they might try to charge you later a penalty fee or send you the zip cash bill so late that you incur toll agency late fees. Just check.

Now the toll road outside of Austin is 85mph. It's not always the best route to take though depending on where you're headed. I try to take it every chance I get, it's always empty and it's 85mph
I did a round trip to Austin on 8/26-8/27. Still waiting for the mail

There are probably a few other routes that would be almost as quick to avoid the toll hassle if you'd like some other options.

^This. Rental companies are notorious for sticking it to people who use the tollways. There's a very good chance you'll be paying more than just the toll rate when/if you use toll roads.

I rented a vehicle from Enterprise recently. As I recall, it was the actual cost of tolls plus a $15 or so dollar "administrative fee" charged every day you used the toll roads. So if you were here for a week and used the toll road every day, you'd be charged $100 before they even started charging you for the actual tolls.

To the OP, coming from OK and going between Richardson and the Airport, you can use 635, especially if it's in the middle of the day. Alternatively you could use a combination of 183/NW Highway to 75. Unless you aren't concerned with the extra charges, in which case - have at George Bush!

Rental car companies charge one time toll convenience fee ($ 15 or so ) for the entire rental period not per day if you use toll road.

I am an enterprise plus member and recently rented a vehicle for 4 weeks in Dallas for work and used toll roads on most days. I was charged the actual toll charges but they showed up a month or so later on my credit card. $15/day administrative fee is crazy and doesn't sound right.

I'm not sure where you're traveling from but you should be able to plan that trip without any Tolls.

I mean 75 from Oklahoma to Richardson is toll free. You can just use hwy 70 in Oklahoma to cut East or West to get you to 75. Then once in Richardson, you can take 75 to Northwest hwy (Loop 12) and Northwest to Irving...toll free. You could also take 635 East to 35E and then south on 35E to Loop 12. You can either reverse the trip home or take 35E north by to Oklahoma...having the option to cut back east on hwy 82 in Texas or 70 in Oklahoma.

Same here, except my tolls are usually in Denver, but I have yet to see any administrative fee tacked on to my bill by Enterprise.

He did not ask your opinion about the toll roads.
LOL, right. He sounds like he hasn't driven through Dallas in 20 years!
