Default Bishop Arts District Pix

In the early '30's, the area now known as Bishop Arts District was the city's busiest trolley stop. Entrepreneurs flocked from the surrounding neighborhoods to take advantage of all that foot traffic. These days, the "buzz' is back and the Bishop Arts District is once again becoming one of the city's hottest place to see and be seen. Over the last 20 years, more and more artists, restauranteurs and small shop owners have been busy turning North Bishop into Dallas' funkiest creative and dining mecca and restoring the area to its former glory in the process.

Cool pictures...it really looks a lot like midtown Sacramento. It has that funky artsy feel to it as well. Thanks for taking the time to take and post them!!

Kind of looks like the Montrose area of Houston. Where in Dallas is this?

The Bishop Arts Distrcit is in North Oak Cliff and is much much smaller than Houston's Montrose. They do share a similar vibe, but I think this area has a more homey feel to it.

Yeah, I used to work there and there's an art car parade coming there in the early fall of 2007 - look for it!

Great photos! Neat area. Reminds me more of a cross between the Montrose and the Heights. I think I used to live near there when I lived in Dallas before moving to East Dallas. (Those years are kind of hazy... lol) Thanks for the history lesson. I like these kinds of posts.

I was going to say that it very much resembles a mix of the coziness of Houston's Heights with the funkiness of the Montrose area. I'll have to check that part of Big D out the next time I'm up. I've been many places, including parts of North Oak Cliff, but never to the Bishop Art 'hood.

Thanks for the photos.
