Typo- look for momof2dfw- you can't miss her posts in the forum.

Also, you may find some animosity against Californians on occassion. I live in Idaho, and people from Cali have a bad rap for driving up the real estate prices and more than a few people think they are "ruining the area" by changing the character of the state. I'm probably not off base by saying a few Texans may feel the same way. A lot of people are leaving California because its not like to was 20-30 years ago- that's why my parents left.

I apologize for my tone.

It is frustrating for thousands (literally) of people from another state to move into your community and starting telling you how the community should be changed so it will be just like the place that they just left. That is difficult to reconcile.

I can somewhate relate since the same thing has happened to Idaho. I always have to remind myself that there are a lot of really good people in Cali who are tired of what the state has become and wish to move in order to increase the quality of life for their family.

thanks guys for your replies, the reason why I'm relocating is because I'm looking for a safer area for my kids and better schools, not to go and make problems for other people, I believe that we all have the rights to do better for our families, here in california everything is expensive and it's very hard now to survive, thanks again for the positive replies, and the negatives thanks too. any positive help it will be nice, thanks. momof2dfw thanks for your reply I will try to stay away from rowlett, I heard some good things about gardland, what areas in garland you think it will be good. Thanks again

Are you ready for this cultural change? It won't be like California.
No they don't eat wine and cheese at the State Fair.......they eat greasy fried turkey legs!! Turns my stomach everytime I see someone walking around with one of those...it's so barbaric looking! lol

I'm from California and we also donated money to our church.....what makes you think that doesn't go on in California?

I hear thick accents daily around here.......where do you live in Texas?

Good luck to you on your move. I moved to the DFW area from San Diego 7 years ago and don't regret it. Our quality of life has improved so much. (except for the weather of course) The schools are great out here and not overcrowded like Cali.

If you want to avoid high taxes, Rowlett is NOT the place to go. And that is not the only reason to not move there. I'd run out of room if I had to list them all.
Hi, momof2dfw, thanks for your respond, I have found in the net some houses that are been built in creek valley, Garland houses are built by First Texas Homes do you think this is a good area and if the schools are ok. Thanks again

How did this thread turn into a 'bash Californians' thread.

I've lived in CA for the last 15 years and now live in West Plano. Assimilation has not been that difficult.

I like Sushi and drive a luxury sedan....and guess what, other people here do to. I also like Chili, beer, Country Music and football....whoops, there are folks here that like that too. In the 2 weeks I've been here, I've already made several new friends.....many even native texans....imagine that...we can all get along. Amazing.

My point is that it is assinine to paint an entire region with the same brush.
