I am stuck with StateFarm because they will cover me with a pitbull. However, I actually like them. My increases haven't been too bad.

I am using a coworker broker, funny, she quoted me with Kemper :-D ... It is almost half of what I am paying right now .... I went from $3600 to $1900 for the same coverage on the house ($330K dwelling) :-O

SECTION I - COVERAGES
A. Dwelling $ 330,000
B. Other Structures $ 33,000
C. Personal Property $ 198,000
D. Loss of Use $ 97,500

SECTION II - LIABILITY
E. Personal Liability $ 500,000
F. Medical Payments $ 5,000

DEDUCTIBLE - SECTION I - In case of loss we cover only that part of the loss over the deductible stated below:
1 % Clause 2 -All Other Perils $ 3,300
1 % Clause 1-Windstorm, Hurricane, Hail or Wind Driven Rain $ 3,300

Which include some extra endorsement (so that coverage above is $1300).

Even the car insurance is half of what I am paying right now with state farm ... That's some huge saving :-O
So much for discount double check

PS: My house is from 1985

I have been with All State for 2 years and very happy. My Agent is attentive without being pushy and I switched my car insurance and got even better rates.

I used to pay in high 2,000's and now its 1100 for a 375000 home.

Be very careful about Allstates depreciated roof coverage for hail. I find that most Allstate agents are either unaware of their lack of coverage or selectively choose not to explain it to potential clients. Just had a friend get burned for a few extra grand over deductible due to the depreciation they applied.

Depreciation is not specific to any insurance company, all companies add the depreciation to their estimates based on the life of the roof. What you need to make sure is that the policy covers replacement cost. In which case, the insurance company writes you a separate check (for RCV) once you restore the roof to the original condition.

But Allstate is the only major carrier that offers only depreciated roof coverage. Any other major carrier is going to include the replacement cost endorsement automatically. Any agent that doesn't is an agent not worth having.
