Hopefully you like toads and rodents... you'll probably see more of them after killing their predator. Did you mistake it for a rattlesnake?

Toads are a good thing. If you don't see frogs and toads then there has been an overuse of pesticides.
Rats/rodents attract the snakes. If you keep your home/yard free and clear of rodents you won't see snakes.

Can I toss a couple of snakes in the attic to get rid of the squirrels?
Of course we all know where it would end, there'd be a succession of larger and larger animals tossed into the attic until it collapsed, crushing me in the process.

We didn't know what kind of snake it was at first. And yes, we do have rats around - we had to have an exterminator out in the fall to treat for rats.

I live in Carrollton and although we do have some mild wildlife incusions, I like animals. Snakes eat rats and mice. We have some smakes around, but they are shy and generally avoid people. Don't bother them and they won't bother you. We have rabbits, squirrels, red tailed hawks, coyotes and the occasional wild cat or deer. The key is to let nature be nature and not force the issue. But also be smart and don't go wandering barefoot overturning logs without a little precaution. I frankly worry more about mosquitos than animals.
