"Nope"

If we could just replace cuban cigars with ebola on the declarations list I'd be happy!

Spot on.

Like I already mentioned in one of the millions of other threads... S.A.R.S., West Nile, Swine Flue, Bird Flu... ALL of that is still around. But why isn't there much talk of it anymore, IF any?

People should be concerned, but some are taking it to near hysteria level panic.

Legally, this is correct.

If I got sick in some other country, the last thing I want is the US to be telling me to stay away, "curse God and die." And in fact, they can't keep me from coming home.

Honestly, they DO screen with illness when you enter the country, and I am pretty sure that if he had been exhibiting any symptoms of an illness that there would have been a 'process' for him (and possibly everyone on the plane) to be screened or warned or whatever, if not actually isolated. Especially since he was coming from Liberia.

The information was available. It is up to the hospital to pay attention to and follow guidance issued by CDC.

Interim Guidance for Environmental Infection Control in Hospitals for Ebola Virus

On August 1, 2014, CDC released guidance titled, Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Hospitalized Patients with Known or Suspected Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever in U.S. Hospitals

Don't be spreading that to the rest of Texas now.

I really wish people would inform themselves before they came on here and posted completely false information. The CDC has been working with multiple airports to screen people getting onto planes for fevers. This includes the airport this guy went through. He didn't have a fever when he boarded the plane. He developed symptoms 5 days later, once he was already home.

Some of the stuff I read made it seem like the airport screening process was a joke. People just completely unprepared and uniformed.

I hope him speedy recovery. I also hope everybody who was in proximity with him would not get infected.
I would be a little bit worried if I was actually in that hospital; happened to be there and read this news.

Unless they were really up close and personal, they are probably fine.

I really don't see it as a huge deal.

Actually, these might be the luckiest West African guy ever--he's prognosis is so much better here than it would be at home
