A vast generalization which I don't agree with. Just google and you'll find thousands of real-life cases of medical tourism where patients are thankful they got the procedure done in India, me included as a US citizen who had the best of insurance cover but got the procedure done in India; besides the skill of the doctors and the facilities being top notch. Being son of a Doctor, the above statement just hurt more that I'd have felt on a public forum...ouch!

Above said, I agree with everything else you said in terms of the dentist's advice being to save money which could very well be the case. Good observation!

Off-topic and not interested in starting a debate on US vs. India healthcare system...but US healthcare has a LOT to improve upon - getting rid of the insurance companies' clout is one...something which costs orders of magnitude less with same level of quality elsewhere should cost the same in US...after all the world is getting flatter every passing day, with a level playing field.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I appreciate everyone taking the time to comment, love the community feeling on this forum.

Plus...if standards are so low in India, why is DFW flooded with Indian doctors and dentists (trained in India)? Are you implying I shouldn't ever visit an Indian physician?
Indian trained doctors can't simply just apply for US license and get it. They have to go through extra years or training and study and take the same board exams as our doctors here. Also the Indian doctors here are the creme of the crop only like the top 1% can be accepted to programs in the US so the answer is no you shouldn't avoid Indian doctors if they are licensed to practice here in the US. I just would not tell my own mom to go to India to get health care or dental care because its cheaper. My family physician is Indian and she is the most friendly, thorough doctor I have seen

You used to be able to contact the Baylor Dental school and have a up and coming student do the work under close supervision for much less.
