I know...god how I missed that when I was overseas. I can't wait for spring.

LOL It's Murphy's law.....where ever I move to, has radical weather the first year I'm there!

I don't think it was a supercell, I've seen those too, off my balcony. A funnel never started coming down with those.

If you ever see a tornado, don't photograph it. Seek shelter immediately.
Oh trust me I'd "try" to take shelter......living on the 3rd floor of an apartment isn't real safe though....lol I can just imagine trying to drive down to the closest high school on Spring Creek in the event of one......I'd never make it!

LA had a 4 point something tremor last time I was there, but I wouldn't tell someone not to move to Cali because of earthquakes. There's so many more good reasons not to live there. J/K

Personally, I love Texas's violent weather. I'd love a place in the country with a patio facing in a westerly direction so I'd have a good view of the weather rolling in. I'm not scared of it, no reason to be. There's nothing I can do about it anyway except try to get out of the way or protect myself. There's pretty much no part of the US that is not prone to some sort of dangerous natural disaster or another.

Eh...don't do that, don't ever get in the car and drive anywhere when a tornado is bearing down on you.

If you're worried about it ask your landlord where you should take shelter (they may actually have a shelter or an area in the complex designated as an emergency shelter) or get advice from the local emergency management agency. One of the most attractive aspects of this townhouse is that there is a closet under the stairs, and both bathrooms lack windows and have more than one wall between me and the exterior of the building.

Very small ones have touched down inside the Dallas city limits maybe every decade, taken some veneer off the side of a wall and then dissipated just as fast.

But North Texas is very much in tornado alley. Just ask Wichita Falls. Or Fort Worth.

I find the violent weather energizing and exciting! I just wished I had a storm cellar to crawl in to, just in case.

When I lived in Fairbanks, AK, we had a 6.8 earthquake.....scared the heck out of me, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to move there either.

I did ask my landlord, she said I could come get in her bath tub with her! LOL I called the Police Department too, they told me to go to the gym at the nearest high school.

I do have an interior walk-in closet with 3 layers of wall between it, and the exterior of my building. I don't think any room is very safe on the 3rd floor though.

I know how to pray, that's all I would need.

See if you can fit your mattress into your closet so you can lie under it; it would help protect you from falling debris. But yes, the 3rd floor is not an ideal place to be.

Um, Tornados are born in supercells. So if it wasn't a supercell, then it can't even be a funnel cloud........

Supercell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The picture you showed looks like a typical severe thunderstorm. I can't see a funnel - maybe I am blind.
