You can find the article on it now online at wfaa.com but here is an excerpt from it. Also, big Nascar race this weekend so there will probably be LOTS of traffic on some of the alternate routes to the North.
I-30 to close this weekend near Tarrant-Dallas line
Contractors are tearing down the Carrier Parkway bridge over Interstate 30 in Grand Prairie this weekend, closing the interstate between Loop 12 to the east and State Highway 360 to the west.
The highway will close at 8 p.m. Friday and won't reopen until 5:30 a.m. Monday, rain or shine.
Westbound traffic must exit at Loop 12, and eastbound traffic must exit at Highway 360.
Westbound motorists should take Loop 12 north to State Highway 183 or take Loop 12 and Spur 408 south to Interstate 20. Eastbound motorists should take Highway 360 north to Highway 183 or south to I-20.
Traffic.com's Nancy Johnson said the I-30 closure means one less thoroughfare is available for racing fans to reach the Texas Motor Speedway. Nearly 200,000 people are expected to visit the area this weekend for Sunday's Dickies 500 race and other events at the racetrack.
"Any artery leading to the raceway is going to be a mess," Johnson said. "Not enough people know the back roads to get there, which is a shame."
Heavy traffic is expected on roads in central and northern Tarrant County, particularly on east-west routes such as state highways 183 and 114, and FM 407 in Denton County. North-south thoroughfares near the speedway such as Interstate 35W and FM 156 also should also be jammed Sunday, she said.
The Carrier Parkway bridge will not reopen until early spring.
