I was recently married and my spouse is moving from Illinois to join me here in Texas. I currently live in a cozy one bedroom with a grouchy landlord who lives directly across the street from me. I have been living here for the past 3.5 months and my lease doesn't end until 9/30/15. We want to live together, preferably here in my current house. Is there a way that he can move in since we are now legally married or would I have to break my lease? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

1.) Read your lease to see if it addresses adding someone to the lease.

2.) If it doesn't, speak to your landlord and ask him how he would like to handle it. Getting married is not grounds for breaking a lease here.

Under occupants on my lease my landlord has hand written in all capitals "NO ONE ELSE".

I would go talk to the landlord. He/She may have written that at the time but just explain that your situation has changed, etc. Good luck!
