I doubt that you will find anyone here that is any good. You don't get a custom home built in DFW for that money per sq ft. You'd be lucky to get anyone quality less than 1.25 sq ft. Plus, don't forget you have to design it first -- that's over and above the cost per sq ft.

We know people that did the David Weekly "build on your own lot" thing and ended up firing them 3 months into it. They lost 15k but it was worth it to them. I would avoid Weekly like the plague for what you want to do.

All good advice with Homebuilders:

It is very difficult to build at the present time. I would try to find a model or existing home where the home has settled and you can check out the interior quality of the home. I am having a home built and I am just praying that the builder doesn't go bankrupt before he finishes my home.

show me a 4000 sq ft house you could buy for $50 a foot in DFW area---that you would want to live in...if your land is worth 20-50-100K-look at homes you like in your sq ft range and subtract the price of the lot--check the price per sq ft--nothing close to 50 a ft...100 a ft for a new medium quality custom home is about the going price not counting the lot cost...
you could not buy for that price even a pre-manufactured home that big--not mobile home but a log home or other mfg home-- and have it shipped and errected on your lot...with the foundation and landscaping done on site...

you need to educate yourself about the price of concrete for the foundation, lumber and plywood, roofing material, plumbing and fixtures, electrical conduit---those prices have not gone down even if the economy is in the crapper...
