Hello all,

Me and Family are moving to Texas by end of December. My office is in Dallas downtown.
Can you guys suggest me a apartment with nice school district?I am looking for a place which have more Indians.

So far i have checked one apartment in Richardson TX with excellent elementary school. The commute will be 30 mins to downtown by train. Is this a good option?

That is a good option.

Here on the Dallas forum, the requests we get for apartments full of Indians are a dime a dozen. Frankly, you would have a harder time finding an apartment complex that is NOT full of Indians than one that is. Especially in Richardson, Plano, Irving, Carrollton, etc. I wouldnt worry about that. The schools are good too and the train is safe.

How old are your kids? If they're in 6th grade or older, Richardson is the closest suburb to downtown with good neighborhood schools. If they're very young, you can look in 75206 or 75214 or 75208 or 75229 or 75230 (about 5-15 minutes drive to downtown) because the local Elemetary schools are quite good. School names are Lakewood, Stonewall Jackson, Lee, Rosemont, DeGoyler, Withers, and Rosemont. Not many Indians but good schools and better location.

If the OP needs to be surrounded by Indians, the city of Dallas is pretty much out. Especially the combo of good schools plus Indians, pretty much rules Dallas out.

Youre correct that DISD has some good elementary schools, but for the most part, Indians are fixated on the suburbs.

Goodluck @sang123. If you are still in doubt about apartments, you can always find some or contact some who is experience in dealing with buying apartments and properties. If you know a real estate agent working in the place, you better ask for referrals so you can ensure that you get a good deal. I always consulted agents whenever I buy properties especially in Texas.

He asked if there were any closer options. I gave him some.

Maybe one day an Indian will move to Dallas and not think they have to be surrounded by Indians or live in the burbs.....

I have a good friend who splits time between Bombay and Dallas. He lives in University Park and his family is quite happy there!

I think the OP would be happier in Valley Ranch or elsewhere in Irving. I don't know where Richardson gets its "full of Indians" reputation, because it isn't. Most of the Indians around here are either older small business owners or UTD students. Not a lot of families with young kids.
