Is Comcast the only choice for cable TV service in the Dallas area? I am moving from Baltimore and here it is. I can’t stand their crappy customer service and I am hoping that I will escape Comcast territory with the move.

Time-Warner, AT&T, and Verizon are the main cable tv carriers here. It will depend on which area you move really as to which ones are available there.

It used to be Comcast, but Time Warner took it over from them. The transition has been a bit rocky. As much as we whined about Comcast, Time Warner has been worse.

Sadly, it doesn't matter if you get Comcast, Time Warner, AT&T, Verizon, DirecTV, or whatever else exists, poor customer service is the norm in the subscription TV business.

Some people will have overwhelming bad experiences with one provider or the other, some might have few complaints with the exact same provider. But I think the overall consensus is that you can't expect much in terms of customer service from any of these companies.

I could not agree more... Time Warner is absolutely horrendous. We switched to Verizon Fios about a year ago and we could not be happier. If you have the option, I highly recommend it.

There is another thread here dedicated to Verizion Fios... happy reading.

Thanks for all the info. I will look into Verizon Fios. Its new to the Baltimore area so I am not familiar with their quality of service but it seems to be extremely popular in the Dallas area. When I was in Dallas in November every apt complex that I visited had a FIOS brochure.
