Where will your work be located? DFW is HUGE, and if you move to NE Tarrant, and work in East Dallas, you will be looking at over an hour commute each way. We usually tell people to live no mor ethan 20 miles away from their work.

I won't be commuting, I work at home. My wife may work, and that is a remote possibility, and that would be in some Korean store/restaurant/business. We saw many in Carrollton area.

Murphy is a street in Bedford that is a pass through for lot of traffic--busy, especially when people are going to/from school drop off....be careful and visit early AM or in late PM

MOssy Oak--kids had math tutor that lived on that street--close to elementary school and city park--
Spring Garden Elem takes LOT of apartment kids--ratings for school were excellent in past--not so great now--
good teachers but HEB has turned it into NOT a neighborhood school

1917 Mesquite--not looking at GPS--if it is in north Hurst close to Chisolm Park could be very good location but might be Birdville ISD--which isn't necessarily bad thing

don't know anything about Arlington homes

These could be good options, but they're all in Tarrant County. OP said "moving to Dallas" so I was giving advice based on Dallas + Dallas suburbs, not the FW side.

In Carrollton, you may find a decent Elemetary or two, but the middle & high schools are pretty weak. There are about 110 public neighborhood high schools in the whole DFW area....the best CFBISD high school ranks in the middle 1/3...not terrible, but wouldn't call it a good/great.

Don't know how old your kids are....if elementary, not as big of a deal if you can find a house zoned to a decent K-5 situation but if they're older, do you really want them surrounded by mediocre to underachievers? There are also some rough parts of Carrollton near Midway/ south of 190 so be aware of crime + gang/ drug activity.

Since commuting isn't a factor, check out Rowlett and Forney.

Check out east Richardson, especially the Yale Park area. Excellent elementary school and there are some homes within your budget.
