Im sorry, but this is mellow drama.

The OP could have a look at McKinney or Denton. They have a small town vibe to them though traffic is bad to the center of town.

If they want a small town feel, they are going to have to go south. They can make Waxahachie to Downtown Dallas in about 50 minutes with traffic. Red Oak and Ovilla have a small town feel to them as well and they can get to Downtown in less than an hour easy.
