I have relocated back to the area and am wondering if anyone in the Dallas area rents Garage Apartments or what may be referred to as an in-law suite, (a small house or addition off of the existing home) or a nice little house boat.

I would like to be with-in 20 minutes of Midway & 635 in any direction. Looking to spend no more than $650.00 monthly max.

Thank you in advance.

For that rent, if you find it will likely be in an older house in Garland, Farmers Branch or Irving. I have seen them before on Padmapper or Craigslist. Very hard to find. At that low rent, you won't find it using a realtor or apartment locator.

Doubtful that you would find a houseboat within a 20-minute commute as the closet lake is further out.
I am not sure about that area, but in East Dallas, most garage apts are advertised via a sign in the yard. In this area, your rent would be quite low. (I don't know the Midway/635 area)

Good luck.

Look in North Oak Lawn (Bowser, Holland, Hawthorne, Gilbert, Newton, Herschel, and Prescott). There are some nice smaller buildings, that advertise with signs in the yard as well. It's a very safe area, and occasionally there are good deals on small places. Padmapper is a good resource.

Very true. Check Kessler Park too. I saw one yesterday that had a nice set up. It was either on Colorado or Winnetka. I don't know how much they were asking though.
