As mentioned earlier in the thread, it was more like a rant about some colleagues who do own expensive cars, work in Dallas and use local roads everyday to travel from Frisco and Prosper. Annoying thing is their annoyance with traffic in Plano. My point is to take tollway if local traffic bothers you then you won't have this complaint and we won't have crowded roads. I had no idea that I am touching a sensitive spot and posters would take it personally and start feeling first defensive then offensive.

It wasn't meant for commuters who work in Plano or nearby and use local roads occasionally to avoid tollway congestion. If somebody has all the problems that you mentioned then they can live near their work. You can't have it both ways and cause crowding and pollution for others and then get offended when they complaint about it. On the other hand feel entitled to complaint about local traffic.

Ironic that you started the thread to complain about something petty and you're accusing everybody that responded of being "sensitive".

There's 7 million people jammed into the D/FW area. No matter what roads people take, they will almost all be crowded.

The problem with your theory is that people can't always live near work. Take for example:

1) the person who lives in Lakewood, works downtown, but then is laid off and finds a job in Plano. Are they supposed to move? What if the spouse still works in Downtown

2) what about the person who was lucky enough to get their child in St. Marks (arguably the best school in Dallas), Are they supposed to pull their kid out of a great school?

3) What about if your job might only be temporary? For example, the person that gets hired by JC Penney but does not know if they are going to like it.

4) My mom hates highways. She will only drive on local roads. There are thousands like her.

Ironically, when you assert that drivers from outside of your area should not use "your" surface streets, you imply that you want to have it both ways, as follows.

Solution: evict the invaders:
  1. This will cause crowding and pollution to the invading drivers, via increased exposure to concentrated vehicle emissions on the jammed highways.
  2. Perhaps you're not offended, but you seem to have difficulty accepting the complaints on this thread.
