Unfortunately I have to drive from Fort Worth to Dallas tomorrow evening. Assuming that i-30 will be a nightmare due to the football game. I don't know what traffic is normally like on alternate routes like i20 or 183. Which alternate route is best? (downtown fw to park cities). Thanks for any advice!

I think 30 would still be the best route.

30 will get pretty congested about 5 pm because of both the game and rush hour. You might consider dropping down to I20, or leaving earlier.

You will likely have a small bottleneck, but I would still take 30.

If you can, check traffic on an app like Waze right before you leave -- if you click on "routes" it will give you up-to-the-minute info on which route is actually the fastest. Or if not Waze, then tune into 1080 AM KRLD radio for traffic.

I drive that way all the time, and I-30 is usually fastest, even with big games. Don't forget there's a carpool lane if you can use it.

If you don't want to use the app and don't want to risk it at all, I-20 is not that much slower, and nice scenery, and usually not much traffic.

Hwy. 183 is often pretty full of traffic...
