Currently in the process of accepting a position in Irving TX and the position will require me to travel 50% within the zone. However, I am planning to get a place in uptown Dallas. Thinking about a high rise with the view and something affordable. Any suggestions ?

Is $1500/mo affordable? You're going to have a hard time finding anything in a high rise for less than that.

Ok, then you might like The Ashton (may be way over budget), The Renaissance (condo building on Turtle Creek with younger residents & good pool scene, individuals owners rent to tenants), 588 Lofts (also condos), Mercer Square (mid rise but awesome location), The Taylor (newer building, don't know anyone whose lived there, good location), Sky House @ Victory Park, Glass House.

I have not been in Gables tower in a few years but it was showing it's age the last time it was there. I'd recommend against it with your budget.

Gables Tower sucks. I looked at it when I first moved to Uptown a couple of years ago.
