Regarding post about applications for magnets, I think I am out of luck because we won't know for sure if we are even moving for several months. Any thoughts? I think I am is the same boat regarding Greenhills. Applications are now. Any insights on how difficult it is to get a spot in Spring? My girls are in private schools here in Ann Arbor.

Anyone do the Plano-UTSD commute? How bad in rush hour? What about DART is living in West Plano?
There are Conservative temples in north Dallas as well. Shearith Israel is a great place to start. There's also Tiferet Israel. There is a Conservative temple in Plano, but I don't know anything about it; I think it's called Anshai Torah. Richardson also has a Conservative temple on Lookout called Beth Torah.

There is also a reform temple (Temple Shalom) in FND but it's a much smaller congregation than Emanu-El.

I'm sure you'll find one that you love.

And the commute from west Plano to UTSW during rush hour will be bad. That's with traffic and southbound DNT is jam-packed from Frisco to downtown during that time.

You should certainly look at Hockaday and Greenhill. The religious angle will not be a problem at either school. Both are extremely competitive, great schools. The biggest difference is one is co-ed and one is not.

Preston Hollow is a good location for potential move to UTSW. Easy commute. Also it is a central location in Dallas.

Schools, apart from Greenhill, Hockaday and ESD there are a few jewish schools as well. Levine Academy is one that comes to mind. But there are jewish (and christian, hindu, and muslim...) families at the three schools mentioned, so don't dismiss them yet.
