Apparently you misread.

I just verified with ATT that 1gbts service would cost me $30 and change more per month than my current Gigapower 100mbps fiber service and they could switch it on today.

ETA - they just sent and email - it is $30 more per month.

No EDS you have no idea what you're talking about, just like virtually no computer can "take advantage" of 1 GBPS speeds.....

I think getting even 800mbs is greater than 100mbs.

Uverse is also slow to deliver upgrade. We were supposed to have it last fall in East Dallas and now it is at least 2 years away. However that said Uverse is good I have 45/6 mb and it is good enough. Rarely have a problem and if I need service it usually comes in less than 24 hours..

One day it will all be wifi.

Good Luck

So it is better to have your network infrastructure prepared rather than replacing it again in a couple of years. But for now, I wouldn't mind having stable 100/100 Mb channel instead of 10/100 with the floating speed.

AT&T website shows U-Verse Gigapower at $150 a month for TV+Internet. I understand this is a promotional rate, does it go up to $250 after one year contract?
All you have to do is call them every year to keep the old rate. I've done the same for years.

I haven't tried running all six TVs in HD at once since getting Gigapower.

I'll try that later today or tonight.
God I miss FiOS and at least the ability to use cablecard. Their Quantum TV kicks the hell out of this Uverse stuff.

I'v had both - although the FiOS was a good while ago (2008-2010) and I don't see much difference. Excepting that ATT customer service is better.

Having a gigabit interface port and actually being able to process 1GB speeds are completely different.
One of the major problems that service providers face is that customers run Gigabit speed tests and they don't work because the PC can't "take advantage" of 1 Gb/s speeds.

He knows that. His comment was about a specific poster.

Further, if people had stopped pushing the envelope we might still have floppy discs, B&W CRT screens, and dial up. Running up against barriers kicks the can towards the next problem to be fixed.

I didn't misread. I've seen the pricing. They may be quoting you a promo rate, but it's going to go up after year in that case.

Edit - or you're being quoted the price that allows AT&T to monitor your Internet usage.
