I am about to be taking a job in the grand prairie area but am looking for neighborhoods in the Dallas area and am not sure where to start. I'm a 22 year old single male so being close to the downtown entertainment would be nice but not a necessity and I would only be making the drive into grand prairie every third day but would still like to be in an area where the commute wouldn't be terrible. I'm hoping to keep rent under $600-$800 but i am not familiar with what rent usually runs around the are so that could be readjusted if needed. any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks!

That's going to be a fairly hard one to work. The commute between GP and Dallas won't be one you'll like but at least it's not every day. Depending on the time of the commute you may have heavy traffic, or using alternate routes may help.

Are you coming from out of town? Do you have any familiarity with the Dallas area?

The rent is a bit low, depending on what you're really looking for. That is, close in to downtown entertainment will be at a high end or more. First I'd suggest looking around Oak Cliff but I'm less than vaguely familiar with the area. It's between GP and downtown. Beyond that I'd suggest Oak Lawn, just north and west of downtown, between that and Love Field. There are some apartments in the area that might satisfy your needs. Finding them may require driving some of the streets for 'Rent' signs. There are some streets that avoid freeways and the downtown jam that will get you to GP. It may take a few minutes longer (or not).

I'd be careful around Love Field...there are some very rough neighborhoods around Bachman Lake.

6am Dallas to Grand Prairie should be an easy drive. It's only ~15 miles from Downtown to PGBT in Grand Prairie.
