We are interested in a few South facing homes/South West facing homes with backyard, family room, master bedroom facing North/North East. We love lots natural lights in the house.
Shouldn't your backyard face anything but north if you want lots of natural lights in the house?

Yes but consider high summer temps and cost of a/c.

Yeah, true. But if having lots of natural lights matters to you (like it really really does to me), north facing backyards wouldn't be a good choice. Of course, it's subjective to the floor plan, but I'm assuming having the highest number of windows towards the back of the house.

So far, we've been discarding all the south facing lots due to this very issue. But I think I may need to revisit that with the floor plan we have in mind. It may not be so bad if we have a few east facing windows in the living room.

We looked at the same communities. The electric grid was the negative in Star Creek. And our realtor suggested not to go with Grand Homes in Cumberland. So, we decided to go with Stan Pac in Fall Creek.
We moved in Fall Creek, Allen couple of months ago. We are very happy with Stan Pac (build quality and service). This was our first house, so no prior experience in building or buying a house. But Stan Pac helped us in every step. I specifically want to mention that even after our closing, they have been very quick in addressing all our issues. Overall, we are very happy with our first house.
