I have been trying to find an elementary school anywhere in the Dallas and surrounding areas with a shorter school day than a 7 hour day. I love the hours at Providence and while I think it is a wonderful school and know and love many people whose kids go there, after researching it, I do not think it is the best fit for my family. I also came across Lakewood Presbyterian School but have not been able to find out much about that school. While I want the shorter hours I also want a good program.
These are the only schools I have found with less than 35 hours/week. Surely there is something else out there? Thank you!

I'm not really sure how much luck you'll have. To my knowledge, schools have to have so many academic hours per school year.

The Weekday School at UPUMC (University Park UMC) has had a great Kindergarten program for several years with two exceptional teachers. For the 2015-16 school year they will have 3 classes of 12 kids each. The school hours are 9-2. School is conveniently located just off Northwest Highway and Pickwick at 4024 Caruth.

Would THREE hours be short enough for you? If so, here's your school.

The only others that I know of are The Covenant School and Coram Deo Academy. Covenant has a similar setup for preschool and kindergarten as Providence, but I couldn't find information schedule information about the higher grades. Coram Deo has that same setup of either MWF/TTh options, but they continue it all the way through.

Both Covenant and Coram Deo are Christian classical schools like Providence. I'm not sure if that'll work for you or not, since you said that Providence turned out to not be the best fit and these schools are so similar to Providence. Good luck in your search!

LW Presbyterian caters to a homeschool group setting for the most part. There is plenty of work to do at home. Their science materials are creation based if that matters to you.

Just thought of another one, but it's kinda far-flung. Grace Preparatory Academy in Arlington also does alternating days (T/Th) from 8am-2pm, plus also sending home assignments intended to be completed during MWF. One of my college roommates graduated from Grace Prep and absolutely loved it, but it's very Christian-centered and if that's not your style, then Grace Prep may not be for you.

Look into Poetry Community Christian School. Elementary-middle school students go to school Monday-Thursday. High school students go on Fidays till 12:00PM.
