Other than that, we have been really quite happy here! Congratulations on your move!

We have been here for three months now. The Ca. Mexican food is want I miss. Have you found any Mexican resturant that is like CA.

Midlothian is not like that at all, but it is very industrial and trucks are constantly truckin' through, running you off the road... I came here to have some family nearby, my husbands aunts and cousins had made the move to here from Cedar Hill. I had made several trips to Cedar Hill within the past 8 years and liked it. The Aunt and cousins moved out because they said it got really "bad" and it was growing with gangs. So they moved to Midlothian and I trusted in them they kept saying it was so wonderful. I came out for a very short stay to find my home and buy.
It is definately one thing to come for a visit and have an enjoyable experience than to actually live here and love it. However, I hear Austin is beautiful, and North Dallas is a nice place to live.. I should've checked those areas out because I am very turned off to Texas now.

So basically, you wanted to live as far from black people as possible, so you found that place, right?

Some people pray for rain and complain about the flood, I swear...

Also, from what I've heard, Cedar Hill has a large black middle class population.

Not meaning to start that whole TX vs. CA mexican food debate again, but you were given quite a number of recommendations of places that DO serve it that you admittedly never even tried... in this other thread:

Where can I find some "authentic" Mexican food in Plano?

I had some good Mexican food when I was in TX. I'll have to ask my friend the name of the restaurant.

I don't think there's any food that I can't live without. I tend to make my own Mexican food rather than go out, anyway, so I'd be takin' it with me.

That is true. Southwestern Dallas County, especially the cities of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, and Lancaster are diverse communities with large black middle class populations.

You probably would have had a better experience had you chosen Cedar Hill. I have never heard of a gang problem or gang-related violence there. If this were a serious problem, I don't think that the city would have been able to attract all of the new businesses and residents that it has over the past few years.

LOL I was being facetious. I've tried a lot of those restaurants now. It's not that they're not good, they're just different than what we're used to. You know how it is when you're used to something and crave it....nothing else fills the void.

Okay, I was expecting to hear that you found it visually the same....doh I was gonna say, it doesn't look anything like Riverside....lol

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time of it. I know from experience that it sucks big time to live somewhere that you don't like.

Anyway, it isn't everyone's cup of tea and I think that is great because I don't want it to be homogonized into CA or NY light.

Kelly has a lot of animosity built up about moving here and when someone is feeling like that, of course, they aren't going to say positive things.

Kelly hopefully you can get back to California and find what you are missing and looking for, honestly.
Just curious but where did you live in Nor Cal? I lived in Sonoma County, Forestville (between Santa Rosa and the coast), and then Santa Rosa.
