If Verizon isn't in your area today it never will be. Same with AT&T. Territories don't overlap, never will.
If you are not in either's FIBER serviced area, you can contact an/any ISP for telephone/internet service. Essentially, you'd have DSL with Voice over IP. It's good stuff, It works and sometimes no long distance charges. I did exactly that with Speakeasy Internet. They use a third party Data LEC such as Covad to lease the lines from the TeleCo then provide the DSL. The Internet provider - Speakeasy - provided the Internet and VoIP over the Covad lease. Was cheaper than have tele and internet directly thru AT&T. And international LD was no charge. Check availability at

OR... You can get TimeWarnerCable and do the same thing. TWC will provide cable/internet and VoIP in a bundle.
