Default Telephone/internet service providers in Dallas

Can someone tell me if there are any other options to get Telephone and Internet services other than AT&T or Verizon Fios(the last is my option but currenlty doesn't provide service in my area).

Here are two previous threads on this same subject. The only other provider I'm aware of is Time-Warner (formerly Comcast)... it and its' services are listed on these links as well:

Internet/Telephone Connections for home

What providers for internet, phone, and TV.

AT&T U-verse is my choice over Cox cable. I moved to Tulsa a few months ago and went with Cox for internet, TV, and phone. Two weeks ago I switched to U-verse because it offers more cool features for a bit less money. It is being rolled out area by area, however, and may not be available yet where you live. Take a look at this comprehensive review of U-verse.

If Verizon isn't in your area today it never will be. Same with AT&T. Territories don't overlap, never will.

If you are not in either's FIBER serviced area, you can contact an/any ISP for telephone/internet service. Essentially, you'd have DSL with Voice over IP. It's good stuff, It works and sometimes no long distance charges. I did exactly that with Speakeasy Internet. They use a third party Data LEC such as Covad to lease the lines from the TeleCo then provide the DSL. The Internet provider - Speakeasy - provided the Internet and VoIP over the Covad lease. Was cheaper than have tele and internet directly thru AT&T. And international LD was no charge. Check availability at Broadband Reports.

OR... You can get TimeWarnerCable and do the same thing. TWC will provide cable/internet and VoIP in a bundle.

What you might want to do is just hook up internet only and get the magicjack. It will cut the cost of you bill to almost NOTHING. You just pay for the internet service ~ $25 to $30/ mo. Go to www.magicjack.com for more info I love it but I also keep my cell service for portablility
