Regarding homestead cap loss; does this apply to new home buyers in 2014? I am bit loss. I applied for homestead this year as the new home owner (last year the seller had applied for 2014). Does this mean the 10% maximum increase apply to my property from next year appraisal onwards?

My appraisal has increased by 11% from last year. And I bought in August 2014. Two properties similar properties (same builder, same sqr footage and floor plan) was sold this year. And their value has increased by 8% and 6% only. Is this because of the homestead cap loss?

Thanks!

The 2% one must be in the "completely undeveloped and lame" part of McKinney ;-)

It is, though that post 1 made you are referring was specifically talking about a 3rd property

Collin/Mckinney- Total Market Value up 20%!

Yow! Thank goodness they cap the increased amount for taxes at the 10% mark.

Just under 10%

DCAD--Coppell.

I'm curious--are those of you posting greater than 10% dealing with non-homestead properties?

I expect it to go up another 10% next year too, until it reaches market value. No point in trying to fight it. I'm pretty sure an appraisal would come back at least 15k higher than it was assessed this year. Ups and downs of a dramatic increase in property value!

Some of the ones they're building in Melshire Estates are horrendously tacky.
