My family chose Houston over Atlanta and while that was a disaster, we're happy to now be living in the Metroplex area!! Plus, I grew up in north Florida and never really liked Atlanta, though I was willing to give is a second look before we moved to Texas a few years ago.

Absolutely NO regrets about choosing to live in the Dallas area!

Atlanta is far snobbier than Dallas, no doubt about it.

About the same as the number Dallas has of Whataburgers, Dickey's BBQ, Albertson's and donut shops... and about on par with the nail salons.

I bet Dallas has better strip clubs than Atlanta.

Why destroy land so beautiful
With respect that mind-set is why Atlanta has been and will continue to fall behind DFW and Houston as the economic powerhouses of the south.

If the Japanese can build an airport in the sea you guys can build some roads.

You had to mention Publix....I would love for Publix to move here. I personally think Publix is better than any grocery chain we have in the northern burbs of Dallas. I hear HEB is cool, but since we don't have those I can't compare. We also have plenty of Waffle Houses and Chick Fil A's too.

We have an awesome Kroger in Rockwall, but I agree........Publix is one of the main things I miss about living in and around Atlanta.

I'm telling you, in Atlanta it seems like they would rather sit in traffic for 30 minutes just to get on the freeway so they can have something to ***** about when they get where they're going.

While the Tom Thumbs and Krogers in the area are hit or miss, HEB's Central Market blows Whole Paycheck out of the water IMO. They are similar in that they concentrate on locally-sourced and organic items, but they have this sense of humor in how they market and go about their business that is refreshing; and their store-made items are far more tasty IMO. I'm also elated that The Fresh Market has finally come to this area.

But having moved from SC, I agree that Publix would be a welcome addition to the mainstream scene here in the Metroplex.

Ugh....Houston. Did middle and high school down there. It was no mistake that we chose DFW to settle in once it was time to come back to Texas. Like you......no regrets.
