The schools are an issue in Dallas, but without kids I chose to not worry too much about re-sale and the school issue. I guess it just depends on what your priorities are. I have a short commute, easy access to the train (deep ellum, exposition park) and close enough to Lakewood (where we would like to live but $$$). Your budget would be able to get a much nicer place, but the secret is out on most of those neighborhoods already.

I would love to live in Lakewood/Greenville (75227, 75206) and that would be closer to your price range, but I don't feel that DART has good coverage there unless you like closer to Mockingbird. Also, I'm getting irritated that they are bulldozing all the older houses and putting up shiny industrial townhomes.

Buy a house that is 30k less and get a car! DART is more or less useless!

Gulia, we're moving from Houston and hate what is being done to the areas close to downtown. older homes with character being torn down and replaced with 4 story "single family" homes. No backyards and outdoor space. So ugly!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm entering the zips into my search areas. Grew up in Richardson way back in the 70s.

Forney's nice.

We like it a lot (bought here last summer).

No Dart here though. But it only takes 30 minutes to get to Dallas with good traffic.

Richardson! Traffic is ok. Its slow, you wont come to a dead stop! Eventually you will reach home.

Yep, and it has a DART station conveniently located at Walnut Hill and Skillman.
