Our backyard fence is on it's last leg and I think the material cost for another wood fence would be too expensive. We're thinking about using corrugated metal fencing instead. My partner is a carpenter and he had the idea to frame it out with wood and maybe put decorative headers on the top so it wouldn't look like a junkyard I usually see the metal used for siding and roofs, but is this the same material used for fencing? Does anyone have a source for corrugated metal? Do you think there might be a problem with this fencing in heavy winds?

If you have a HOA, no way they will approve. You also need to check with your city's code enforcement dept. I would worry about high winds. So many wood fences went down last weekend and we didn't have a tornodo.

I doubt any city around here would allow this on a new fence around other homes - unless that is some kind of really cool artsy angle.

I'd be afraid that stuff would make a lot of noise in the wind as well.

I had an aluminum fence installed 10 years ago. Still going strong.
