Not necessarily. Lucas, Fairview, Parker, Heath, Sunnyvale, Cedar Hill, etc call all meet OP's criteria and are within minutes of "civilization". Just depends on if where the husband is conmuting from makes sense, time-wise. But all are easily within an hour's drive to downtown Dallas in Rush hour.

I'm sure those homes run into the millions. Check Farmer's Branch on Valley View as well. A lot of hidden gems.
You don't know Dallas very well. Beverly Drive is high profile, but doesn't offer any privacy and none of the homes are on 1/2 acre lots, much less 1 acre as OP requested. Plus, it's really traffic-y. Plus, you really can't live on Beverly for less than $4M so not sure why you'd even bother mentioning this to OP since they're budget is about 20% of the going rate for Beverly.

Lower Preston Road offers privacy and acreage, but the only home for sale is on the market for around $50M so not sure why you'd even suggest that to OP.

The estates on Preston or off Walnut Hill in Preston Hollow are going to be about $2M+ so again, not relevant to OP's situation.

Tons of "hidden gems" in central Dallas, yet none of them relevant to OP's situation or budget.

Welcome to Dallas...the city everyone outside of Dallas claims is the cheapest place in the country to live.

You can get about an acre in central Dallas for $1.5M-ish. There are a few hip pockets and MLS listings near Inwood & Northaven that fit are in that range. Definitely not $10M, though you can spend that if you want to!!

Actually there are many options to buy an acre of land and be within an hour drive to Downtown Dallas.
Southlake offers some properties with large lots 1+ Acre for around $750K. It is about 30 miles from Downtown about 50 minutes drive.

They don't want to see their neighbors.

Parker is nice but 1.5 acres already out of their price range.

This is a beautiful home, but a bit out of your price range. About 30-45 minutes to downtown. You can get 1+ acres and a 4500 sf house for $750 (or less) in Sunnyvale, but there aren't many on the market right now. Would you be interested in buying 2-8 acres and build your own home?

Keep dreaming.
7.5 Million people in DFW would love the same.
OP might try East Texas and commute the 90 minutes into Dallas.

But it really sounds like OP should not come to hot as hell Dallas and stay in cold Colorado.
