Best Brisket in Dallas is - Pecan Lodge (ask for moist)
Best Burnt Ends in Dallas is - Lockharts

New upcoming BBQ place I would recommend is Meat u Anywhere - solid BBQ and great service.

As an overall BBQ place, we love Hard 8 in Coppell. There is another location in Roanoke, and one in Stephenville. Railhead is pretty good for brisket, fries and cold schooners- and their smoked chicken is pretty good most of the time. Railhead has a location in Fort Worth at 30/Montgomery and one in Willow Park off 20 on the way to Weatherford. The WP Railhead does a great salad that you can add any meat to if you aren't feeling all the traditional sides. We are close to MeatUAnywhere and anxious to try it soon, just waiting for a brisket craving to strike (I have to be in the mood for BBQ, it's just so heavy).

You're going to get a lot of opinions and suggestions based on a bunch of different styles of BBQ. I suggest having a look through here: Full Custom Gospel BBQ

My favs in Dallas are more Central Texas style of brisket, ribs (beef and pork), and sausage with sauce on the side and not needed. Pecan Lodge is the best in Dallas and Lockhart is second. Meshack in Garland is very good as well. Hard 8 is not bad at all but it's not my favorite and after having Pecan Lodge or Lockhart, you can tell the difference in quality.

However, what the OP has requested seems to be a bit different from the Central Texas style. Maybe Mac's is up your alley?

We really like Hard Eight in Coppell as well. Be warned the lines are ridiculous on weeknights...I think because of convention/business traffic from Grapevine.

However, they don't always have pulled pork. Their brisket, sausage, ribs, and sides are divine, though. I'm also a fan of the brush poppers. (Chicken, bacon, and Jalepeno bits on skewers)

Bumping an old thread lol.....

I guess I was looking for more East TX/Southern style with sides more common in Soul Food cooking.

3.) Good sides. This can include beans, potato salad, sweet potato pie, banana pudding and mac N cheese
All three of these are areas in which DFW BBQ is GLARINGLY weak. Good luck, OP...

Thanks for this. Will definitely check it out, next time I'm in Houston.

Shep's BBQ in Palestine, TX is this kind of BBQ. Turnip greens, hot links, dirty rice. I haven't found a good soul food BBQ place in DFW yet.
