Well, it's done. After 2 years of struggling to make a decision and finally get the guts enough to really change our lives and make a move, our family will be moving to the DFW area in 2 months. My husband was offered more than we thought he would get through his job transfer and we took 5 whole days to make lists, talk endlessly and really get it all out, so to speak, before making our final decision. In the end, we would be sacrificing MORE by staying in CA. He called and accepted the position this morning so it's a done deal.

The only drawback for us moving is leaving our extended families and our friends. Hopefully we don't have a repeat of what happened to us a few years ago when we told my parents that we were "considering" moving to Texas. I'm expecting the worst but know that we are making the right decision. The family that DH and I have created is our priority- our parents all had their chances to raise their families and buy homes and the like. Now it's our turn.

SO, that brings me to my questions. I need recommendations for real estate agents ASAP so we can get the ball rolling. We are wanting to hook up with a realtor whom is familiar with out-of-staters and are going to be flying out to Dallas in the next 2-3 weeks and looking at homes and ultimately purchasing one. We have been looking for the past 2 years in the suburbs in between Fort Worth and Dallas and really like that area but are also considering the suburbs east of Dallas. My DH has already spoken to the supervisor over in his new office, too, and asked about those cities and if they would be a good choice for us and he said definitely. Commuting wouldn't be an issue in regards to where the job is.

Any recommendations? We want someone who is a go-getter and really knows their stuff! TIA

Why is commuting not an issue? Does he work from home? It is a huge issue for most of us. If he has a location, give us the general area, budget, and how long a commute he can tolerate.

Congratulations to your hubby on the new job! I think you guys will really like it here, you can definitely get more for your money in this area than you can in California! I worked California real estate for several years, and my co-workers couldn't believe how much further your money can go here in Texas.
