I heard there were some houses in Flower Mound on larger lots. It might be in the southern part of FM.

I sent you links to two properties in Grapevine, each on approx. 1 acre and in your price range. Check your private messages (the forum rules prohibit posting of home listings. I am not a realtor and not affiliated with one or the sellers.)

They have them, they simply start at about 450K...
The standard lot is about 60 X 120... however there is always the exception with corner lots, cul-de-sac lots, etc...

Really good feedback, thank you. I just noticed some nice property in the town Haslet. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions about Haslet I would be interested in hearing them. Thank you!

Check the threads on the Fort Worth forum where Haslet falls. There is a lot of good feeback there.
There is active train that goes through Haslet and beeps its horn every time, that is the biggest downside, may be lack of trees too. You get a lot for your money though.
Your drive to Dallas would be really long too. You really have to visit to decide if it's worth it.

There are very, very few houses with more than a standard lot in Grapevine and Carrollton. But you might be able to find a house in Grapevine that backs up to the Corps of Engineers property around Grapevine Lake , which will make your lot seem larger. We love the small town feel, yet convenient location of Grapevine!

Thanks ChristieP for the feedback on Grapevine. I really like the central location but was worried about the hectic pace of everyday life in such a busy area. I didn't think Grapevine would have a small town feel, I will give it a closer look. Thx..

Grapevine Questions?
I too will be moving to the area and we are considering Grapevine, had been warned about the Bass Pro Shop area only because of noise from DFW runway flight pattern. I see 2 runways N-S, 2 other runways parallel 114. Cany anyone tell me if the property between 114 and the lake is much affected by flight pattern noise, or is the ascent pattern such that noise dissapates by that area? Also, what areas in Lewisville would be "safe" from flight pattern noise?

Honestly, the planes VERY rarely take off from the 114 runway. It is mostly used for landings. They take off on the ones to the south (over Irving) or the one over Grapevine Mills Mall. There are very, very few houses in Grapevine that are directly under the flight paths. (There are some in Southlake...) I've lived in Grapevine for 5 years, and only once has a plane flown directly over our house!
Lewisville honestly gets a lot more flight noise because it is under the area where the planes line up for approach.
Steve, you'd be surprised, but Grapevine really does have a small town feel. We are the oldest town in Tarrant County, and we are well-known for our historic downtown area. Yes, we are surrounded by major highways, but most of the traffic stays on them and doesn't come into town! Grapevine has a lovely library and community center, and lots of really nice parks and public pools. Yes, we have the Great Wolf and Gaylord Texan, but again, they are on the edge of town and don't bring a lot of traffic into town.

Christie, your comments have convinced me to take a close look at Grapevine. I love the location, just need to find the "right feel". Thanks again.
