It started with a few suspects.....

Girls who may, or may not have been hooking walking around a feeder street wearing miniskirts or semi "booty shorts". A few days ago, I saw my first obvious hooker replete with micro purse, full booty shorts and a cigarrette. Yesterday, I saw a cluster of three "possibles".

The hookers appear to be using a nearby 24 convenience store (very convenient for beer and cigarettes, but little else) as a supply base. A nearby hotel with a lot construction workers could well be a source of uhmmm...... "clients".

I don't understand it- two years ago, gentrification was in the air. Now, a blighted area to the south appears to be spreading. The number of panhandlers by the highway has increased and they now loiter in front of a grocery store as well. In addition, I recently saw three young drug addicts get booted from the area thrift store for shoplifting.

Needless to say, I am worried about spin off crime from the hooking. My neighborhood is accessible via a series of alleys and we have seen an increase of bicycle thieves and lawn tool pilferers that appear to be using the alleys.

Does anybody have any tips on contacting the police? Dallas PD have a reputation for shelving complaints, and I want mine heard and acted on. The hookers are not firmly entrenched, and even a few arrests could nip this in the bud.

All you can do is report suspected prostitution in the area and the Police will handle it or not.
Otherwise I don't think there is anything you can do legally since you have no actual proof.

By the way, not all prostitutes dress the way you described, some "girl next door types" at home dress like that in public.

Post warning video survalliance signs around the alleys in high places and maybe even some mock or real cameras up high. You'll need very high ladders and coop with your alley neighbors. Also citizen watch groups are effective. Your loa police dept can help set up one with a few resources and help gathering a block meeting

Contact your district's City Council member and raise hell. They can add pressure to DPD to take the situation more seriously.

That is true. Heck, I have seen some crazy shorts in even in church.

But, the girls in this crew are loitering / strolling even in a block of industrial lots (non residential) and their dress seems exaggerated, even for modern times. This makes me think "hooking".

Because it is costly, cumbersome and may cost me lost value if the area gentrifies.

You can't just pick up and move at the drop of a hat, genius. Little more complicated than that...

That is one of the advantages of renting. Most leases are somewhere between 6-12 months. So a person gets to re-evaluate their housing needs every year and make a decision based upon present needs. No getting tied down to a particular location.
