Coming to price range, I was thinking to limit to $200-$225k range. During my search for houses, it seems to be fair range for the houses constructed in 1985 in Coppell
You are going to be hard pressed to find much in that price range--it is intensely competitive right now. Whatever you do find will likely not be updated and you will be competing with a ton of other offers, some cash.

A family we know tried for a few months to find something in that range. They offered over $20k above asking and still were beat out.

I will say that you likely will not have a hard time renting it out should you succeed, but given what you may have to put out to get a house and make it decent, I'm not sure I'd be looking to buy an investment property in Coppell right now.

Thanks for the details. Do you suggest the same about Plano too. Plano seems to have fairly more number of houses listed for sale than Coppell? Another lingering questions for me is - I am looking to purchase house during October-December time. Given that schools would have already started by that time, would I be able to get tenants easily at that time?

^Yeah, but if you are purchasing a multiple bedroom house in a place like Coppell, they likely will.

December is still a popular time to start a lease.

I think you will see the same issues in Plano as Coppell.
